It's Saturday and Freezing

I'm freezing in Detroit and have no motivation to go out in the freezing weather. I have not posted in a while so I'll like to share my latest purchases. This has not been a good year for me and boots. I've been looking for some riding boots but couldn't pass up the deal on the boots I purchased. On a side note, I wear a size 12 and never knew Nine West carried my size. Well here are my purchases.

Just call me Julia Child!!!

Happy Friday Lovlies!!!!

I am a recent convert to a gluten free lifestyle and I am loving the results.  I sleep much better and most importantly, I wake up much better.  I used to feel like death warmed over in the mornings during my gluten days, now my body doesn’t have such a hard time getting moving.  There are different levels of gluten free living and I am taking this journey one day at a time.  I’m sure over the past 2 months some gluten products have passed through these lips but for the most part, I am conscience of what I eat.  I’ve always been a label reader so that part wasn’t a big change for me.  So yesterday I was contemplating what to make for dinner and because I am a HUGE fan of Mexican fare and that is a very good option for folks that stay away from gluten, I figured that would be perfect.  I decided on a Fajita salad as I had a great flank steak in the fridge just waiting to be prepared.  It was a relatively quick and easy dinner to prepare and was FABULOUS…..I think this is worth sharing.

Ingredients:

1 1/2lbs Flank Steak

1 cup Basmati Brown Rice

1 can of Black Beans (rinsed)

Arugula Mix

Fajita Veggie Mix (sautéed in garlic and olive oil)

Avocado Slices

Tomatoes

Plain Greek Yogurt

Cheese (Optional)

Homemade Salsa

For those that enjoy homemade Mexican fair but like to keep it light, this is certainly worth a try……………….

Big Hair Don't Care!!

GOOD AFTERNOON HONEY BUNNIES!!!!!
I got a quick bolt of energy and felt inspired to write a post.  I must say, I have been feeling quite hum drum and haven’t been in the mood to shop for ANYTHING in the past few months.  I think I just have Holiday fatigue.  All the looking and shopping and deals, it just got to be way too much.  (I never thought I would EVER not be inspired to shop.)  But what I HAVE been into lately is……………WIGS!!  Yes, the cold weather and my lack of inspiration for anything, including wrestling with my hair has drawn me to the wide, wide world of wigs and let me say, they are FAB!  I am in love.  The amazing Toni Daley (tonidaley.com) is giving me such life with her wonderful array of wigs and wig reviews.  I actually just purchased a wig that she reviewed and when I sat back and thought about what I paid for it I have come to realize that wig shopping has superseded my clothes shopping.  That is why I have lost my zest for shopping.  It’s not lost, it has simply been transferred.  I literally just came to this realization while typing this post.  You guys are definitely my therapy…thanks for the “breakthrough”………………….

I Can See Clearly Now ~ Vision Board

Well my intention was to post yesterday but I took a snow day and I think I have a touch of the stomach flu or some type of stomach virus. It totally sucks.

Okay, well Good morning to the third day and First Friday of 2014.

I am a little behind but I wanted to share that I will be doing a vision board this year and I encourage you to do the same. One of my sorority sisters shared how to do a virtual board on Pinterest (http://www.Pinterest.com). Here is the website with the information http://www.makeavisionboard.com. I'll post mines once I finish my board and I hope you will join me and share yours also.

Happy 2014

I came across this story and it's so fitting to share the first day of the year. Let's have an awesome 2014.

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey. He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down. A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up. As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!

MORAL : Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up. Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

1. Free your heart from hatred - Forgive.
2. Free your mind from worries - Most never happens.
3. Live simply and appreciate what you have.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less from people but more from yourself.
